Programs
Family Connect
Family Connect offers a range of opportunities for adults and teens to use computers in structured, yet informal classes as well as in self-directed activities. Educational programs are facilitated by paid and volunteer staff in various sites throughout the community.Participants
are offered training in Internet use, including how to send and receive e-mail, set up web pages, write resumes and develop personal projects. The Community Education Program enhances marketable job skills and provides a comfortable and social environment in which to develop technology skills.

Tech 4 Teens Project is a unique educational program which provides technology activities and projects for youth in grades 9-12. Using a hands-on approach with real computers, students explore "How Computers Work" while being guided through the computer refurbishing process. Along the way, students learn to apply real-world problem solving techniques as they learn to clean, repair and troubleshoot their computer system. Each student will refurbish the computer they take home as well as a computer to donate within the community.

Community Connect
Our Community Connect Program is designed to assist under-resourced local community and faith base organizations in strengthening the great services they provide. Our main focus is in organizations that provide services in youth development, adult literacy and the support of the economic and social needs of families.

Community Connect includes activities that:

Improve access to technology in low-income communities.
Build the technological capacity of nonprofit agencies.
Provide technology training and services to individuals and agencies.
Technology planning, hardware and software acquisition and installation.

SPOTLIGHT Performing Arts Camp

MEWF has partnered with Making Magic Camp and Mt. Calvary Word of Faith to design a unique arts-based summer camp called SPOTLIGHT  - Supplying Positive Opportunities to Let Individuals Get Hands-on Training.

Each camp participant gains hands-on experience in set design, costume making, and production work.  In addition to the performance, they also explore various aspects of photography, sound, and video through the technology component we have included in the camp.  Three exciting fieldtrips are incorporated to reinforce the camp’s mission.  The 2007 camp ran for six weeks and centered around the Showcase Performance – a play starring the students and open to the public.

MEWF and Mt. Calvary has an outstanding professional staff, which includes certified teachers.  Volunteers also help strengthen the camp.

Track-out Camp

Each year hundreds of Wake County parents struggle to find programs to accommodate their children while they are tracked out of year-round school.  MEWF is working to develop a program to meet the unique needs of these students.  Our track-out program will provide academic and social enrichment to students throughout the school year on a continuous cycle that welcomes a new set of students every three weeks.
